Data are Fun!? (The Prequel) is specifically targeting middle school science teachers who are new to science, teaching out-of-field, or experienced teachers who would benefit from foundational introduction to data analysis, interpretation, graphical representation and scientific writing genre conventions.

Topics will include:

  • syllabus orientation
  • data processing: means, standard deviation, standard errors, mathematical uncertainty (and why we use these)
  • data analysis: linear regression, correlation coefficients
  • data presentation: bar graphs, error bars, scatter plots, line graphs
  • ideas to incorporate data analysis training in Years 9 and 10.

This professional development workshop is delivered by  Dr Gurion Ang.

The professional development fee is $50 (excluding GST) / $55 (including GST).

Data are Fun!? (The Prequel) is delivered live online (via Zoom; joining instructions including Zoom link provided to all registrants closer to event date), and is recorded. All registrants will receive resources and recordings that can be accessed indefinitely.
