School groups are invited to join other Year 12 biology school groups to improve your understanding of Unit 4 subject matter and practice laboratory skills relevant to genetics.
Delivered by Dr Gurion Ang and current undergraduate biology students, explore concepts in:
- recombinant DNA (bacterial transformation)
- gene regulation and DNA extraction
- amplification (PCR)
- analysis (gel electrophoresis).
You'll assess your knowledge at the end of Experience Genetics with a quiz to earn a limited-edition Experience Genetics 2023 sticker.

Register
Places are limited due to lab capacity.
School groups should register via their nominated biology teacher.
Teachers must download the UQ Experience Genetics registration form and email the completed (signed) registration form to Sam Becker at sam.becker@uq.edu.au.
We expect accompanying school staff to manage student behaviour during Experience Genetics.
Cost
Tickets are $25 excluding GST ($27.50 including GST) per student.
We will invoice you after the event, based on the final number of students who attend.
Attendance is free for teachers and laboratory technicians.
Transport to and from the UQ St Lucia campus is at your school’s expense.
